Meaning of Rights
The Declaration of Independence
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” This is the famous line from the Declaration of Independence that allows all U.S. citizens to put forth the necessary efforts to achieve a high quality lifestyle. While success from your efforts are not guaranteed, it is a privilege to live under such an environment.
As someone who was fortunate to travel to other countries, I can attest these opportunities do not exist everywhere! I know I have spent my life pursuing the highest possible quality lifestyle and am accordingly shocked at those citizens that seemingly are content to settle for whatever crap lifestyle happens upon them! It is as if they are not aware that you are supposed to PURSUE what you want in life and not sit around and whine for handouts!

Regarding rights, I believe that they allow for limitless opportunities to be pursued. Having rights mean you get to keep what you work for, so some citizens are incentivized to PROVIDE opportunities and other citizens are incentivized to PURSUE those opportunities. For example, car manufacturers produce cars to sell for profit and some citizens work to make money to purchase the car of their choice. As a citizen, once I complete the purchase of my car (and have a clear title), I legally own the vehicle and it is explicitly for my use. No other citizen can take my car (against my wishes) to make use of it for their purposes. That person is expected to purchase their own car!

My worldview is that government at all levels should teach citizens to be independent and that they are EXPECTED to PURSUE those things in life they need and/or desire!
While I agree that some citizens will require assistance for matters outside of their control from time to time, I am against wholesale government bailout of citizens that consistently make poor life choices! As cruel as it may seem, SUFFERING is Mother Nature’s way of teaching humans… DO NOT MAKE POOR CHOICES!
When well intentioned government programs and policies, effectively nullify the suffering of making poor life choices… then guess what? The lessons are never learned and the making of poor life choices continue! Continuing government welfare programs that have 80-90% FAILURE rates, keeps Black American families FATHERLESS and mired in POVERTY and have done so since the late 1960’s are a COMPLETE DISGRACE! In my mind, this is government sanctioned CRUELTY!
